Our Story

Student-Led Care for All

Why We Created
Bridges Health

At Bridges Health, services are delivered by Winona State University students and supervised by clinical faculty. We also work within an interprofessional team model which means that when you visit us you will be working with students from different disciplines. For example, you may meet with a nursing student and a social work student. This allows us to provide you more holistic and meaningful care. Students are studying in programs of nursing, social work, public health, athletic training, and exercise science. Some students are undergraduate students and some are graduate students pursuing advanced degrees in their profession. On-site supervising clinical faculty are from the fields of nursing, athletic training, and social work. As a client of Bridges Health, you are a valuable team member in preparing future health professionals and we thank you for doing so!

What we do

Take a deeper look into how Bridges Health meets the needs of their community. Students and Faculty give a look into how Bridges Health is making a difference.

What Our Students Do

Nursing is a profession within the health care sector focused on the care of individuals, families, communities, & populations to achieve, maintain, and recover optimal health and quality of life. Nursing school prepares students as a Registered Nurse, Nurse Educator, Nurse Leader, or Advanced Practice Nurse.

Exercise Science is the physiology of physical exercise. It involves the study of the acute responses and chronic adaptations to exercise. Students learn how to design and administer appropriate strength, power, flexibility, agility, and cardiorespiratory programs based on clients’ goals, needs, and abilities.

Athletic trainers specialize in the management, prevention, and recovery of individuals. They collaborate with other providers to provide emergency and follow-up care and develop injury prevention and treatment programs.

Social work is an academic discipline and practice-based profession that concerns itself with individuals, families, groups, communities, and society as a whole in an effort to meet basic needs and enhance social functioning, self-determination, collective responsibility, and overall well-being.

A public health major prepares students to foster and defend individual and community health and well-being. Students develop the critical thinking and analysis skills necessary to confront issues such as low vaccination rates, food-borne diseases, drug overdoses, and more.

Pre-medical is an educational track that students pursue prior to becoming medical students. It involves activities that prepare a student for medical school, such as pre-med coursework, volunteer activities, clinical experience, research, and the application process.
